why can't we just have both? it would be cool to have a variety of slightly different trainer sprites. that way not every ace trainer would have the same hair color. they could just be small differences like a different belt, hair color, etc. which would keep the game from feeling as repetitive and canned as gamefreak games always do. we could even change what kind of pokeball a trainer is holding to reflect the level of pokemon they have.
