>Expedition Society origin story about a haughty but well-natured foreigner Flaaffy and a native Mawile searching for meaning both independently joining the same expedition down into the ruins to hunt for treasure>Surrounded by rough fortune-seeking types, Flaaffy grates on them quickly. Mawile just tries to blend in while outside of her element, joins in with the others against Flaaffy. He doesn't really care.>Once actually down in the ruins, Mawile and Flaaffy are the only two that actually care about the historical significance of the place, and are duly ignored for trying to respect it. They bond over the discoveries they make. Despite being airheaded, Flaaffy is actually something of an gold-hearted intellectual.>A series of traps, disasters, betrayals, and misfortunes leads into a climax scene where the two try to escape the collapsing ruins with an artifact in their possession they stole back from the remaining member of the expedition, a rampaging Garchomp. They're taking the artifact away for Indiana Jones reasons when it would've just been sold for money and buried in a basement somewhere (or worse). Climax ends with Mawile trusting Flaaffy and being whisked away in some idiotic gambit that actually pays off.
