>>41108273The feathers do follow through on it's execution though; they go from being used as basic projectiles used crudely with Rowlet, basic feathers used like a weapon with Dartrix, and specialised feathers used as the weapon they are modelled after with Decidueye.
The Robin Hood theme is a bit more vague but begins with Dartrix not Decidueye, Robin Hood was a noble who became a thief in a lot of his literature so even though it does come mostly from nowhere it still follows through with a clear connection and isn't a reversal of expectations.
The barn owl aspects do get a bit lost but not nearly as much as you are suggesting and it becoming more humanoid is more to match the demands of it's design requiring a wider range of humanoid movements because of it's theme.
The loss of dynamic movements also seems like a inferral on your part since Dartrix has the same problem with it's attack animations in game but in outside media and even in Decidueye's z-move both have been shown attacking with their weapons while in motion.
