Likewise, Suicune wasn't Suicune originally and only became the Pokemon we know now after it was killed and revived; prior to this, it was apparently an almost canine-looking Pokemon that resembled its Beta design.
If both of the above are true, then how are we catching another Virizion from the far future? How are we encountering a Suicune that looks like a dinosaur when that clearly wasn't what it looked like before its death? The raids are basically confirmation that neither of these Pokemon are being pulled from an alternate point on the timeline and must be artificial, because their existence is impossible (thus creating the 'paradox').
