Pokemon has always been a series with a strong focus on friendship, growth, and perseverance. And in what way can one develop any of those qualities if they skip over all the 'tedious' parts, and dive headfirst into a bunch of roided-out, shiny monsters mercilessly brave-birding each other to death? A shortcut it may be, but it is also immoral, and against the spirit of the games.
