It was the first game in the series set outside of Fantasy Japan so it was a fresh breathe of air for the old fans who wanted something new and it was a brand new world for new fans who missed out on DPPt and HGSS. At the same time, it was also the last 2D game the devs worked on so they poured as much as they can into it and drove the handheld to its limit to give that era of Pokemon its last hurrah.
And what

The Unova region being inspired by New York ( and East Coast in general ) perfectly blended the postivie things from both places, being located in a bustling metropolis gave it the feeling of anything being possible while having a comfortable place outside of it to return to.
Memes aside, I genuinely enjoyed playing this game as a teenager. I've made fond memories over this generation with friends who may or may not live anymore or have moved on and have forgotten about it. Personally, I enjoyed the GTS System and I've traded with many folks ( who may or may not post here ) and given new fans their starter trio for shitmons. I could talk more about my love for this gen but I have to go to sleep now. Pic rel is one of the few surviving pics I took from that Generation.
If any of you guys received a Pokemon from a trainer from Singapore named "Ezra" ( I was an edgy kid back then ) over the GTS, chances are that it's probably from me. If you guys did so, I hoped you enjoyed the Gen as much as I did.
