The only plus side was that she managed to get the machine to stop doing its thing, so the volcano remained dormant...
Erin rushed down the mountain to Lavaridge to get both of her friends some help, but they couldn't make it out alive.
Their departures were a wake-up call for Erin- she was going to be down two reliable members for this gym battle, so she needed some support.
Erin withdrew her previously-caught Magikarp, Koin, as leverage. It was a great match-up, she thought: fire against water, right?
Well, even after her several-day training session... she was left with a Gyarados that had no water moves and a Wobbuffet without any reliable way to continuously attack.
Oh well.
She sighed and headed into the gym regardless.
When she came back out, she had a badge in her hand and a glowing team on her belt.
Flannery had hardly stopped her.
Onto Petalburg she went!
