what's actually going to happen is that rosterfagging will now become a selling point for each new generation - and an excuse for game freak to skimp on new features/content in the games. this is similar to the business model that nintendo already uses with smash: by milking smash with perpetual dlc character announcements, they can get away with barely releasing any new games.
