The second Don Battle tournament was amazing as well. Much like the Contests in AG/DP, they add an element of unpredictability that Ash's Gym challenge can't have. I would've normally expected Cameron to beat the Throh Trainer in the semis and then face Ash at the end, but thankfully, since the stakes of these tournaments aren't "Ash has to win or he can't go to the League," he's allowed to actually put people over. That's to say nothing of the fact that BIANCA of all people beat Trip, who has now lost in the first round of both Don tournaments he's been in. Lol get fucked, dude.
I kinda wish TPC had experimented with a more sports-like series. Or I guess I hope they try it out when Likokino's over in a few years. I don't know the structure or the actual pitch for it, but just something that's punctuated with these mini-competitions like BW has in the Don tournaments, where the main character doesn't have to win, so its exciting when they do win. I guess that was more or less Ash's plot in Journeys, but do it better and without Ash there please.
