Thought I'd throw this in the thread for anyone that hasn't been constantly checking the datamined numbers for the new mega system:
Basics
>Initial mega evolution is unchanged
>New system allows you to mega evolve for free after X days since the last time you mega evolved, based on level
>Base level requires 1 mega evolution, high level requires 7 (6 more) mega evolutions, and max level requires 30 (23 more) mega evolutions
>Mega energy is now a resource to accelerate time needed to wait for mega evolution to be available, instead of a direct cost (each cost past level 0 is costs 1 more energy than expected because the system rounds down when calculating how much energy compared to remaining time before the next free mega evolution)
Improvements
>Cooldown for free mega evolution: 7 days for base level, 5 days for high level and 3 days for max level
>Bonus Candy: Max level gives 2 instead of 1 per same type catch
>Mega Evolution immediate cost: 40 energy at base level, 20 at high level and 10 at max level (half the energy for Beedrill and Pidgeot)
>Chance for XL candy: 10% chance for same type catch for high level and 25% for max level
>XP Catch bonus: flat rate of 50 XP for each same type catch for high level and 100 XP for max level
>Attack Boosts: Unchanged
