It has traits of giant otter though. The mustelid base isn't gone completely.

Sea lions are a type of Pinniped dingus. Not seal. Its like saying a walrus is a seal.

Anyway Samurott more of a giant otter with sea lion characteristics. Its more terrestrial than a sea lion(4-footed mammal with separate tail) and has fingers with thumbs over flippers.

Meh. I never was bothered by structural change. Despite being part sea lion everyone blathers about I can't stop thinking that its more of a giant otter with seal characteristics. It seemed too feral and less aquatic to be a pinniped to me.

Reminder that sea lions don't have opposable thumbs and back legs(only feet connected with their tails). Samurott is more of a giant otter with sea lion characteristics. It is not 100% pinniped.

If anything, its more of giant otter with sea lion characteristics. Otherwise Samurott wouldn't have opposable thumbs and hind legs that are equal length of it's forelegs. Sea lions don't even have back legs.
