I ended up buying a ticket to GoFest. NYC is close enough for me and it's a cheap ride there. I am also going to buy the ticket to the GoFest Global Weekend. The Remote Raid pass change sucks for sure but I stopped raiding a while ago so it doesn't affect me as much. I do find it to be an eyebrow raising move though. Niantic would've continued to make more money if they lowered the pass cost.
