Gamefreak was smart enough to follow the same formula with their game without changing too much just so they can survive for a few years. Compare to Digimon, arguably its only good competitor. Despite being a good anime, Tamer ended and the retards decided "hey, lets just lose the partner altogether and make kids super heroes!" Yeah, that went so fucking well with Frontier. Their games weren't any better and kept changing.
