It's simple and even a bit generic looking, but also distinct enough from any other dragon to be instantly recognizable. Instead of focusing on features that would logically make a dragon as "cool" or tough looking as possible, they made it round and even a bit cute, giving it an unprecedented appeal and a significant edge over any other dragon design before it.
Basically it can be whatever you want it to be and that lets it stand the test of time.
