Then I "left" altogether because of my disappointment with the new generations.
I was actually planning coming back with a vanilla run of Emerald for old times' sake. Sapphire was not my first title but it was still the one that defined my childhood for two entire summers.
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to enjoy a "normal" run now that gen3 feels so far left behind and the franchise has moved on, it kinda feels lonely not having people to share the experience with when it comes to the 2D generations. Hell, even XY are starting to feel like that to me, and they're not even that ol-
