Haymaker decks were the most dominant at the time (70HP basics that started doing damage immediately), with favourites being Hitmonchan, Mewtwo, Scyther and Electabuz There were a few others like Rain Dance Blastoise, but it was basically Haymaker or bust at the start.
But 99% of kids didn't play and just collected cards. Much like they do nowadays as well. Now you have investorcucks who've basically blown the costs of the TCG out of proportion.
