Pff you don't need strong pokemon when you have statuses. Confusion is my favorite status because it stacks with other ones, and in an anime setting there's no reason being put to sleep would stop you from being burned or poisoned as well.
Exploration wise ghosts are objectively the best at scouting because they can move through walls and run from anything unpleasant. If anything comes at me during camp I can status the shit out of it and run away.
Also figured that if vivillon is capable of conjuring hurricanes it could probably carry me.
