Weird how you want to scapegoat Pokemon and call it acceptable to cut them rather than literally anything else. Pokemon will ALWAYS be the most important aspect to the franchise and cutting them will ALWAYS be a point of contention.
Also the reason fan efforts to add in Pokemon have been so jank is because they don't have the source code. You act like you know so much about gamedev and then you seriously expect the effort of a bunch of literal amateurs stumbling around blind to reflect what it would actually take from the actual professionals who actually have the game's source code.
