The slippery slope is only a compelling argument for mongoloids that like pretty patterns without looking at the underlying data. Stuff like Mega Kangaskhan/Gengar/Lucario/Mawile(to a lesser extent but still applicable) were injected with so much power creep that I'm surprised they ever got past play testing. It's not the mega evolution mechanic that makes a mon broken, it's the everything-and-the-kitchen-sink approach to buffs that made them broken. The only other mega that we have right now that might be contentious is Zard X, since it has almost everything going for it. Salamence will be banned too when it comes out, though that's one that's almost as bad as the above examples.
