>>55303745>no one cares about the garbage turn based gameplay in pokemon except autistsObviously this is exaggerated for the bait effect, but it's mostly true. Pokemon should definitely consider a major shake-up. It keeps attaching cheap gimmicks with duct tape and glue to an ancient RPG formula that was cobbled together in the '90s. Clearly they want to reach out to their target demo with anything BUT the core gameplay. The last significant change they've made is including abilities, and that was in 2003.
Players want their Pokemon to respond to their environment and interact dynamically with one another. Vague particle effects signaling a function like A paralyzing B doesn't cut it anymore, and hasn't for a long time. I don't know what the best genre change would be; even changing the style of turn-based combat would do it wonders.
>If it ain't brokeIt's not broken, but there's always a risk of gradual alienation. I doubt the franchise will ever fall-off in a world where corporations like Nintendo have access to every kid's psychological profile and spending habits. But it can easily hit new lows, and when something leaves the spotlight for too long, anything can happen.
