Honestly all the mechanical stuff I don't care much about, the game is fine as it is mechanically. I just hope they do Hoenn justice. It is the most varied region in Pokemon, and it could look really beautiful in 3D, I want to see lush jungles with treetop houses, rainy routes full of six foot grass, dusty trails, a 3D panorama of the island as I ascend to the summit of the volcano in a cable car, a pure white city carved of sea rock, etc. etc.
