We proof read. Many times. Preferably for a couple weeks unless there is a deadline. That way, only a few errors slip through.

…but only because I consider it a point of politeness to respond timely should there be any while-it's-on-the-new-stuff-list comments. And, after that, it might get one read a month at best, so there's no sense in getting all tensioned when there are more stories to write.
For my part, mostly I wonder if the feedback is going to be what I expect it to be. Often, that is “practically none” which is the hallmark of too low a porns-per-polysyllabic-word ratio.
