On the official site they say Kubfu comes from a faraway land. It's a literal kung-fu Pokémon and Mustard himself has Chinese/Asian influences written all over him. (His rare league card makes him look Turkish which is still Asia, fight me.)
Coupled with the fact that both Simplified and Traditional Chinese is supported for the first time in SwSh and that Nintendo is working with Tencent, one of the largest Chinese developers, makes me believe that Gen 9 will take place in a region based on China. I think the best feature and selling point for the game is that it will be fully open-world after the acclaim of the Wild Area and DLCs but I expect a lot of the designs to be shit and the gameplay to still be linear.
I'm even going to go a step further and predict that Gen 10 will completely upend series formulae:
>Takes place on another planet entirely as per the continuation of the Ultra Beast arc
>Starters forgo the traditional Grass/Fire/Water typing and only have one evo with a secondary typing
>Introduces a 19th type, with many of this gen's pokemon filling out remaining unique typing combinations not yet used
>is basically the Turn A of the franchise
