>>48604446Anon, the anime soft reboots itself between series. Maybe it was less apparent earlier on when it strove to maintain slivers of continuity between regions, but now it makes no bones about it. Ash gets a character resolution every couple of years, then amnesia, big cruch, deja vu, etc.
Perhaps this is offensive to the hardcore Pokemon fan (see manchild autists like us), but to the target demographic who stick around for one or two series, it's scarcely an issue. It seems like maintaining a brand identity is a wiser priority than taking narrative risks, which the recent series have done modestly.
Anyways, I quit watching the anime in Hoenn because like you said, it became tiresome by Johto.
