I haven't played the jap version, and I can't find the source for that, but it seems strange that this would be translated differently. Given how actual cloning works, it all fits with the giving birth part (I mean, given how eggs didn't exist at the time).
Feel free to show the original text with translation though, but the English version leaves little room for interpretation in this matter.
I'd like to point out that Gamefreak seems to care little about a lot of fan theories. I mean, sometimes they don't seem to know their own creation.
