Don't forget this game is twice as old as the average /vp/ poster. There were many, many formats without a Gust card or a draw/disruption Supporter.
For example, the only other card with a N/Judge/Ace Trainer effect was Desert Shaman way back in Gen 3, which most decks didn't run. And technically Looker's Investigation in Gen 4.
Other than Gust of Wind, we've only had Catcher in Gen 5, and Pokemon Reversal in Gen 3 and 4 that worked like errata'd Catcher.
Meanwhile junk like pic related was considered a 4-of in 2004-2006, and the game was just fine back then. We don't *need* any specific staples. If anything, finally rotating these five-year-old staples would be a much-needed breath of fresh air.
