I do believe that most of /vp/ dislike these games, I just think that this board among other forums are just a small portion of the overall buyer base, especially as the "voting with your wallet" meme never translated well into reality, especially in established media franchises such as Pokémon that can perpetuate their existence by yearly releases. This keeps them and, more importantly, their (cultural) products relevant and the aforementioned devoted buyer base of uncaring parents and manchildren around to consoom everything in the hopes of the games being good just because it has the name "Pokémon" slopped on top of the cover.
The reality is that BDSP always was going to sell well due to nostalgia alone, more so than Hoenn which didn't have as large of a player base as the Gen 4 games, and PLA will rock the charts because it's "Pokémon Breath of the Wild" in the eyes of your average consumer. Voting with your wallet is a meme for such companies.
