Literally an entire mountain range can be reduced to rubble, then raised from the earth again in under a year in the pokemon world. Entire ecosystems can move, or outright swap in a few months because something decided to move in and fuck the terrain over. And this is before considering legendaries of any kind. And these things have to adapt to that shit.
The pokemon world isn't a crappy place to live because you'll get mauled to death by rats if you leave your house, it's a shitty place because there is literally nothing you can do if some douchebag Tyranitar decides to knock down the mountain you live under, or some strong Rock/Ground pokemon raises a mountain a few miles coastwad from you, turning your home into a desert thanks to the rainshadow.
