I'm imagining riding on a Ludicolo using surf, and it's pretty weird. It's kind of like ducks where they paddle like hell under the surface but look still above? Think of that, except for a ludicolo submerged up to its eyes dancing through the water (surprisingly fast considering how it doesn't look like any traditional swimming form) while keeping its sombrero perfectly still and well-positioned for the trainer to sit on top.
It's good to have both a Maractus and a Ludicolo, since their dancing tendencies can play off each other and tire each other out instead of making the trainer watch and help them dance.
Tropius is always the gentle giant everybody loves, and having extra food always on-hand for the one member of the seven-member team that can't photosynthesize is handy.
They all have their own personalities and quirks, but they're all loving in their own way.
And I do admit, yes, I would smooch the fruit.
