To me, Yo-kai Watch is at its best when it's just preposterous and completely bonkers, which is pretty much all the time. Sometimes it's the worst thing ever, but sometimes it's just too funny for me to not like. Lots of people just have "goofy bias", which is understandable
But I personally love it. And yes, I DO like A LOT of its designs.
Also, on a more bigger scale, games like Yo-kai Watch are EXTREMELY important to Pokemon. Greater competition means more pressure to change, which little Yo-kai Watch actually somehow managed to pull off during its heyday, briefly beating out Pokemon, something that basically no other monster collecting game has ever done in a million years. It's games like these that maybe, just maybe, might make Game Freak get their act together and stop playing things too safe. Here's hoping Yo-kai Watch 4 keeps the series alive for a while longer.
Also, pic related. You ever see POKEMON give a shit about stuff like this??? I know it doesn't matter all that much, but since when has Pokemon shown any signs of interaction with its fans? Again, playing things too safe for too long.
