This is one of the few "new" Pokemon (along Porygon2 and Girafarig ) that really stood out for me when I was 6-7 years old back in the 00s, didn't have any games back then, first saw it when I got it on those sticker album things.
I clearly remember it stance, both claws sideways pointing up and it looking smugly to the side with only a visible eye. The big claws but especially the eyelashes were what really caught my attention, along with it being a really ambiguous and cool looking monster. And now that I think about it, one of my main inspirations for drawing. Still to this day I emphazise big or oversized claws/ angular hands with pointy fingers and eyelashes on my shitty OC's. Weavile is cool too but Sneasel's the GOAT. It really is different from most Gen 2 mons. OP pic makes it look boring and I clearly remember it being black.
I never wrote a blogpost this long about any other mon, and it never made it in my "fave of every tipe" chart, but well here it is. Sneasel for president.
