Exposition to the Anistar Sundial, like some were suggesting; Direct Zygarde-ian intervention via Goomy; hell, maybe at least a nice arc showcasing Greninja's fear of failing leading into intense training to prove itself. Something like that.
But what do we get? The thing i feared the most: A lousy concept handled in a lousy way, with us getting Greninja and this Greninja pulling this transformation out of its ass in the very same episode. You don't need that much to justify something like this happening, but this rushed attempt merely shows that they're not even trying.
I'm still somewhat hyped for this season. Even if for some reason it decided to start it all up with lots of filler garbage, everything from the Squishy episode onwards seems worth a watch, i just didn't think i would revert to overly cautios, somewhat cynical-mode so early into the season. Everything depends on that string of episodes. I can only hope they don't mess it up.
