Considering that Gamefreak has no fucking idea what to do with their franchise beyond playing the same nostalgia card, it's possible that they will fail to resonate with the people who got Let's Go with the 2019 Pokemon game, while also losing the favour of the old fanbase for whatever reason. From there, they may end up flailing around trying to recapture lightning in a bottle until eventually adult fans don't give a fuck anymore (or they just grow old) and kids have no nostalgia for the franchise for them to tap into.
