Something tells me they have half the pokemon already in decent shape and are just saving them for some special re-release a year down the line, or some DLC patch to reinvigorate the Sword and Shield. It has to happen, they're just in the transition phase right now.
I am a little concerned about how the VC versions of Gold and Silver will transfer up, or if they even can. I love doing a run through of Gold, then transferring my team up to the bank so I can reset my Gold for another run. Then with the hidden abilities, manipulating natures, and perfect IV's it made creating competitive pokemon really simple.
I really hope there's some way to keep that integration in place, but we'll see. I doubt they'll make a whole new poketransfer app just to keep up sales of a 3 year old $5 download on an obsolete system.
