I think if the art style was simply identical to the way it was back in the 90's while the story stayed similar, there would hardly be any complaints. The art is the only thing that bugs me anyway. Also kind of tired of Ash, since it feels like he never matures. I don't know if introducing a new protagonist would help either since the anime wouldn't even feel right without him, but oh well.
