Many squids and octopi do not have what can be rightly called an "up" or "down". They swim in all directions, in all orientations equally and can switch from one direction to the other on the fly. That's why Malamar has the upaide-down gimmick.
Clobbopus does the same thing. It has a vampire squid wrestling mask with little blood droplets but it's upside-down.
