>>46778179It's hard to tell what's going on in battles due to the turn-based nature of the games, but the MC's are skilled at deeply connecting with their pokemon and forming strategies to pull out their full potential, better than most people. Maybe it's harder to juggle six pokemon than we realize as only champions and special trainers do that, imagine the care and time that would have to go into a diverse crew of pokemon. It could also be because the kids are still young and lack responsibility, so more time can go into their pokemon, Kagetora couldn't become the trainer he wanted because he has a family and needed to work a job. Lastly I don't think it's very common to own a pokedex, so the MC is lucky in that way too.
