>>45914601I am a Sinnohfetus, my first game was Diamond.
>Gen 1Iconic. Great start to the series. I love its mechanics. I don't think it's outdated at all.
>Gen 2Johto is really good. One of my most replayed gens. People tend to exaggerate its flaws, the distribution is decent and the battles are fine, gyms not using Johtomons isn't gamebreaking.
>Gen 3I'm not that big of a Gen 3 fan. Hoenn has a lot of great pokemon and Hoenn itself is peak exploration but everything else about it is really off. Hoenn's characters and story feel like downgrades from Gen 2, plus no day/night and worse sprite animations really hurt its aesthetics. I hear boomers hated RS and unfortunately I can see what they meant. But again Hoenn pokemon and the region design are both fantastic, so is the Frontier, /vp/ praises Hoenn for those 3 things only anyway.
>Gen 4Obviously biased so feel free to skip, but I feel Gen 4's gameplay was pretty solid. Besides the speed, and DP's horrible distribution, I feel Sinnoh did everything alright. DP is hilariously unpolished but at least the trainer battles was good. HGSS is best remake.
>Gen 5The only flaw for Gen 5 is how it decided to treat some of its pokemon. The evolution levels and distribution in BW are fucked in some way. Everything else about Unova is great. I have some gripes with the story in some areas but the narrative overall was handled well.
>Gen 6My least favorite gen. I personally really value trainer battles and Gen 6 is the only gen (including 7 and 8) that seriously dropped the ball on them. Still though, as the first 3D gen, XY did a lot for the series and I can thank it for a lot. It's overhated, endgame stuff like the friend safari were good. I don't like ORAS though, I'd even say people turned on gen 6 because of ORAS, not XY.
>Gen 7Battles really picked up here, it really improved off 6. Totems were a cool idea, the story was fine, the cutscene complaint is kind of dumb honestly. Great designs and characters.
