Watched the episodes with subs now, and I stand by what I said about this episode needing to be two or three. Even with potential Gibeon flashbacks in the future, there's tons of potential with the OG Explorers and their friendship that I don't think will ever be handled. Unfortunately, the powers that be are shaking from not having a Pokemon of the day episode in a while, so that has to be cut short. I wish they would get out of their own way into making something good.
I figured Rakurium was going to end up being the base for Mega Evolution, given that it looks so similar to the Anistar crystal. Now I guess it's somehow related to Tera though, or maybe both. Maybe Tera crystals are smaller deposits that scattered when Gibeon fucked around with it; they're supposed to be made from a special quality of Paldea's soil, and it's not like the Rakurium couldn't spread through the terrain. The Anistar crystal likewise was a huge deposit of it, so it causes Mega Evolution and that fucks with Pokemon more. I want to know more now though.
