you can exchange those points for certain Professor branded goodies like exclusive playmats or promo cards with the professor program logo
if you're judging at a regional/IC level you get a small payment to cover some of your expenses, it's not much but it helps, also, you get paid with booster boxes or some other sealed product, I think
the professor playmats are, imo, absolutely beautiful
