As you all may know, every Smash Bros up until now added at least one (you could as well argue two, let's just keep it simple though) new Pokémon character.
Melee had Mewtwo, Brawl had Lucario, Sm4sh had Greninja.
They all were themed with psychic/dark/shadow abilties and/or fighting, they all appeared pretty humanoid(bipedal, some could speak) and they all were from recent gens.
It's also notable that the theme changed it's center of gravity in character-design over each game, Mewtwo was mainly equipped with psychic ablities, Lucario still had some but was more of a fighter, Greninja is a fighter/ninja and more sneaky as well. Decidueye would fit pretty well into that and he is more doable, more relevant and more popular than most other potential Pokémon-newcomers.
Now, Incineroar is a possibility as well and may even come together with Decidueye, though I heavily doubt that he is as popular.
