Although Gen V has it's flaws (linear region, subpar starter and legendary designs) it lacks a number of things which group it with the nu-gens.
Gen V lacks the following which plague the nu-gens:
>no dungeons>shitty routes (despite the linear region itself, the routes themselves were intricate with lots of side paths)>minuscule dex>kanto pandering>constant tutorials>exp share and overall lack of difficulty (especially with challenge mode)>soulless 3D (and the slowdown that came with it)>rampant feature gutting (the only notable feature removed was following pokemon)Cast aside your hatred of the ice cream, you know it to be true.
