Using the franchise itself a good example would be Ryhorn primarily a mammal and Lairon a lizard (Similar to the real example with rhinos, triceratops, and beetles) two different species that under similar conditions evolved in a similar way, but not a 1:1 copy.
Secondly GF realized from G5, that the general public doesn't want something radically new, they want the same old burger with a couple extra pickles, some imported bacon, or to try a new sauce, but in the end they want to keep eating burgers. Megas, Regionals, Gigantamax, Convergents, and whatever else comes along in the future are just the pretext to sell disguised nostalgia.
