>>51998312With the first eight generations, you could at least get the sense that they had sketched a bunch of concept art and gone through rounds of critique to get to the final product, even for the ones you didn't like. This generation's dex, on the other hand, looks like it was thrown together on the fly by a third grade art class using Blender for the first time.
My guess? Half of it is because Dexit has turned the majority of Pokemon into fleeting and disposable characters, so the artists subconsciously won't put their heart and soul into something that might never show up in the games again after this. The other half is that the laziness and complacency of knowing you'll buy it anyway has finally atrophied Game Freak's skill at creature design like it's already done to every other aspect of the franchise.
