>>47500884It was done because DP were made with the original DS (not the lite) in mind, the original DS had a frontlit screen and not a backlit screen, so the colors were a lot brighter. Same thing was done with some GBA games, if you compare DKC SNES to DKC GBA they've got entirely different color pallettes.
By the time Platinum had come out in 2008/2009, the DS Lite had fully taken off and had more or less outsold the original model, so the colors were toned down a bit in games from that era compared to earlier.
