Gen 1 is honestly a perfectly solid game. All the gameplay problems are drastically exaggerated, especially if just playing casually. Ghost not hitting Psychic means nothing because nobody runs lick. Faster Pokemon = higher crit rate is just a gameplay setting that you can take advantage of just as much as your opponent when battling or teambuilding. It's completely fine; same with Hyper Beam. Psychic domination is also made a much bigger deal then it actually is. Without Mew an Mewtwo, Normal would probably be better -- there's a reason Snorlax, Chansey and Tauros are THE RBY trio. People who didn't play, 100% of the time for some reason, will think Alakazam is uber-worthy.
