I've always felt okay with the Sleep Clause and, to a lesser extent the evasion clause, because it leaves less stuff to random chance, apart from when you're down to that last pokemon that got put to sleep ages ago.
I don't hate Smogon so much as I've noticed that everyone who's on there every day all use similar stuff. The amount of Mega-Khan's and Rotom-W's I've seen recently is crazy.
