Pokémon Prism has a location where you can send Pokémon to an orphanage and get Orphan Points, that you can spend on adopting other Pokémon. A shitmon like a Level 3 Sentret gives you about 10 points.
Requesting one of the player characters from Prism (they're at the bottom of pic; they're grayscale because you custom design your palette) holding a large pile of early-route Pokémon like Sentret/Pidgey/Caterpie/etc. to trade in for a Riolu at the orphanage.
