My region open with an ice area filled with ice types (naturally climatized) and fire types (hot enough to ignore the cold). These are types normally found around mid-late game, so I wanted to give the player early access to them.
The snake preys on fire and ice types with its ability Thick Fat giving it resistances and its Normal typing making it a decent beatstick for the early levels. It's also super cuddly and you can use it as a mattress, blanket, or even a heavy full-body coat-and-scarf if you let it coil around you.
