The last bit is a very important feature when Wizards/Nintendo designs cards in InDesign; if they make any updates to the, say, Psychic type background, it'll propagate through ALL the Psychic cards they designs, rather than requiring the designer to make changes to each individual Psychic card.
I used to make Pokémon fake cards back in the day. I plan on starting up again. I may make an InDesign template for Create-a-Card designers to use.
